The EU threatens Sweden with court action over non adoption of laws protecting agency workers

The European Commission is threatening to refer Sweden to court for not having adopted the new EU regulations on employment agencies in time.

But Labour Minister, Hillevi Engstrom (M) state that the government will "soon" submit a bill to Parliament, reports radio Sweden.

But employees in the Swedish private employment agencies have do not have the legal protection that they should have. The EU Commission is not happy about this and threatens to sue Sweden for not having introduced a new law in time.

EU rules according to radio Sweden would have been incorporated into Swedish law on 5 December 2011. The aim is to give agency workers the same rights as employees of the customer company.
