Could the leader of the Social democrats, Stefan Löfven be involved in corruption?

Wednesday, 21 November 2012
The leader of the Social Democratic party, Stefan Löfven has been accused of being involved in an alleged corruption tangle surrounding the sale of fighter jets to South Africa, Swedish media reports are saying.

A television program tonight called Kala Fakta or cold facts to be broadcast on Swedish TV4 will show that the leader would have hidden facts tying him to South Africa and the sales of the jet fighters.

According to the new information, the program will show that when  Stefan Löfven was the head of the workers Union in Sweden, in the summer of 2000, Union workers in the  South African, of the  NUMSA metal union extraction were given Skr10 million for a school project. But only catch was if NUMSA supported the sale of JAS Gripen aircraft to the South African authorities.

According to testimony from NUMSA, Stefan Löfven, who was the international secretary of IF Metal, had a leading role in the sales project. The party leader is reported to have later refused to help bring out the truth, according to the witness.

South Africa bought 26 Gripen aircraft in 1999, but the deal endorsed by the then Social Democratic government has long been associated with aspects of corruption allegations.
Stefan Löfven has previously commented on the allegations of corruption and then said that he went through the whole deal and that there "is nothing to hide."
