Bildt stopped at the Russian border - Forgot passport
Wednesday, 05 June 2013
Foreign Minister, Carl Bildt was stopped by border guards on Tuesday when during the Barents Sea meeting in Kirkenes in Norway tried to get into Russia to visit a church.
According to Swedish tabloid paper, Expressen, the top Swedish heavy
weight politician had forgotten his diplomatic passport at home.
"One must always carry their passport, this is what we often say here
at the foreign office," said Bildt's press secretary Erik Zsiga to the
newspaper.
Expressen writes that Carl Bildt commented later via social blogging site, Twitter:
"Correct, but in essence, it was actually my fault. Fact that flexibility is not Russian core competency is another thing."
