Belarus not happy with Sweden and take anther swipe at the state

Monday, 04 February 2013
Belarus which has emerged in recent years as one of those countries which Sweden has had direct diplomatic spat with has once again heaped criticism on Sweden.

It's dictator, President Alexander Lukashenko believes that Sweden is violating the UN Convention on Human Rights on several areas. This comes as Sweden has persistently criticised Belarus on the same subject in the past and is one of the reasons why Belarus sees Sweden as a thorn in its flesh.

A report from the Belarusian Foreign Ministry criticized Sweden in issues including the way Sweden treated Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange, and the increasing numbers of male who suffer as sexual victims in Sweden.
"The idea is to draw attention to human rights violations in countries that traditionally present themselves as democracies," the report says.

Sweden's ties with Belarus got strained when all Swedish diplomats were expelled from Minsk, Belarus and closed its mission in Stockholm, five days after the Swedish ambassador was expelled. The ambassador's expulsion came after Swedish PR activists had illegally flown a plane into Belarus dropped hundreds of teddy bears attached to little parachutes carrying signs calling for freedom of speech and human rights.
