Toyota recalls 2.8 million cars, 12,710 cars in Sweden to resolve technical issues

Wednesday, 14 November 2012
Toyota has launched a recall of 2.8million car with faulty steering wheels and water pumps just a month after calling back more than 7million vehicles with faulty windows.

In Sweden, 12,710 cars will be recalled and this  applies 13 models sold between August 2000 and January 2012, including the Prius hybrid car, according to a report from the Japanese transport ministry. 1.5 million of the cars will have been sold in Japan.
Also about 75,000 cars will be recalled in the UK, 496,000 across Europe, 670,000 in the United States.

Toyota said it had not received any reports of crashes and injuries resulting from the faults. It said the steering problem was caused by "insufficient hardness" of the steering shaft, which could deform if the wheel is turned forcefully at slow speed.

In Sweden there are 12,710 cars of the Toyota Prius, Corolla and Avensis family.
"Now we will send letters to our customers and ask them to come in for testing, says Bengt Dalström of Toyota Centre Sweden.

When the customer received the letter, they will be asked to contact their local Toyota workshop and set a time.
The growing love for the Japanese car has driven them to loose what made then famous in the first place - lost of reliability. Toyota car it would be said are still some of the most reliable cars on the road
