Swedish big cities shed more jobs though Stockholm remain strong

Swedish unemployment specifically among those in the workforce was 4.6
percent in July, compared with 4.4 percent the previous month. In July
2011, that level of unemployment was 4.2 percent.
According to Swedish Employment Service's (Arbetsförmedlingen) monthly
jobs report, the number of registered unemployed at the end of July was
some 214 000 an increase of 3000 compared to same month last year.
Including the number of people with activity support, the unemployment rate was 8.1 percent of the workforce in July.
The Employment Service notes that approximately 39,000 people left the
Employment Service's worker seeking database - for work in July,
which is almost 6000 more than a year ago.
Briefly about the labour market in July,
figures in parentheses are the corresponding figures for July 2011.

"The results
for July show a labour market where change has been small so far this
year, despite a troubling development in parts of the world around us.
The fact that nearly 39 000 went to work is a relatively strong figure
and the inflow of new vacancies shows a continued need to recruit
by many employers, "said Employment Service Analysis Manager,
Clas Olsson, in a statement.
The number of candidates involved in programs activity supported
by the tax payers amounted to 3.5 percent of the workforce, or 164 000
people, nearly 10,000 more compared to same month last year.
Nearly 82 000 people had various forms of subsidized employment, a
reduction of approximately 2,000 persons from the same month last year.
The number of notices for jobs loss amounted to 3,700, an increase of
800 from the same month last year. The number of redundancies is
particularly noticeable in the major cities of Malmö and Gothenburg. In
both Skåne and Västra Götaland there was more than doubled the number
of redundancies. In Stockholm there was falls in termination
notices, almost from 1600 - 630 people.
The total number of vacancies was 36,000, which was marginally more than the same month last year.
Among the youths between 18 and 24 years, 92 000 were unemployed
in July, an increase of more than 6,000 people from the same month the
previous year.
