Slight increase in new car registration in the Swedish market

There was a slight increase in the registration of new cars in the Swedish market according to figure for May car registration.

Some 25,782 new passenger cars were registered in May, according to Bil Sweden, the organisation that collects and report the numbers. That represents an increase of 0.1 percent compared with the same month last year.

So far this year 106,031 new cars have been registered in Sweden, a decrease of 9.4 percent compared with the same period last year.

On top of the leader board among passenger cars is Volvo V70 II with 7,756 registrations so far this year, against 8,986 in the corresponding period last year. Second is the VW Passat with 5833, challenging 7,350 same time last year and third Volvo S/V60 with 5 574 compared with 5 553 same time in the past year.

Sales of new trucks declined in May. A total of 3,652 newly registered vehicles was recorded, down 3.9 percent. Registrations of heavy trucks over 16 tons, fell by 8.8 percent to 415.
