New orders growth for Swedish industrial sector in May

New
orders for Swedish industry increased by 4.5 percent in May compared
with April. On an annual basis, however, the total orders show a
continued fall. In May it fell by 3.3 percent over the same month last
year
New figures from the Swedish statistic office, statistic
Sweden also say that that most industry sub-sectors new orders
increased in May compared to April. The most positive development was
seen in the electronics industry and the machinery industry. The
electrical equipment industry decreased the most. During the last
three-month-period (March-May) new orders in total decreased by 2.2
percent compared to the previous three-month-period.
Analysts,
according to media reports expected that production would have
risen 0.4 percent in May from the month before and dropped 6.2
percent compared with 2011.
New orders from the domestic
market increased by 1.9 percent in May compared to April. During the
last three-month-period new orders decreased by 2.7 percent compared to
the previous three-month-period.
New orders from the export
market increased by 6.3 percent in May compared to April. During the
last three-month-period new orders decreased by 2.0 percent compared to
the previous three-month-period.
On an annual basis new orders
in total continued to decrease. In May new orders decreased by 3.3
percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The
corresponding comparison in the domestic market results in a decrease
of 2.4 percent and in the export market a decrease of 4.1 percent.
The
figures for May are preliminary. Since the previous publication the
change in new orders in April compared to March has been revised
upwards by 0.2 percentage points to a decrease of 1.4 percent. The
change in new orders between April of this year and the same month of
the previous year has not been revised and remains at a decrease of 9.0
percent.
