Money in the work of arts as Scream sells for record amount

The Norwegian artist Edvard Munch’s work of arts, The Scream was sold
for $107 million, more than Skr721 million, at Sotheby's in New York.
The painting became the most expensive ever sold at an auction, beating
the likes of Pablo Picasso’s ‘Nude’, Green Leaves and Bust which was
sold for $106 million in 2010.
“We have had
many famous work with us over the years, but it's not often we have a
celebrity like this. The Scream, which after the Mona Lisa is the most
famous artwork in the world,” said Simon Shaw, head of contemporary art
at Sotheby's, to Nowegian broadcaster NTB.
Seven people participated in the excitement of bidding and the whole
thing was over in twelve minutes. Whoever bought the painting is not
known, but the offer was on the phone.
For the buyer stops the bill for the Norwegian art tax of 12 percent of
our revenues on a staggering $ 119.9 million, more than 800 million.
The world's most expensive painting to date, however, by Paul Cezanne.
It was purchased privately by the royal family in Qatar last year for
not less than $ 250 million.
Scream was sold by the Norwegian Petter Olsen, whose father was a
friend of Munch. The painting has been in the family for over 70 years.
