Illegal trading to generate billions at the expense of shops and the retail sector

The illegal trade in legal goods in Sweden is expected to make Skr15 billion in consumer prices, according to a report for the Swedish retail research Institute, HUI Research, developed for the Swedish Trade Federation.

This means that the dark market sector accounts for more than two percent of retail sales and a percent of total imports.

The illegal trade in legal goods consist mainly of piracy including clothing, auto parts, jewelry and consumer electronics, and the smuggling of tobacco and alcohol.
