Finnish banks tighten belts on housing loans

Thursday, 22 November 2012
The shaky Finnish economy has caused banks to become more cautious in the housing loan sector. Over the past few months, bankers say, more is being required of loan applicants and the trend appears to be continuing, reports Yle, Finlands Leading broadcaster.

However, it is not only banks that have become cautions, customer too have become careful given the nature of the job market before they attempt into buying a house.
Kenneth Kaarnimo, Head of Country at Danske Bank, Finland said he sees similar trends of banks requiring more from loan applicants.

"If [the loan applicant] is moving from one home to the next, the old home should already be sold," Kaarnimo told Yle.
