Fall in Swedish producer prices in August

Sweden saw in august a fall in the prices of export market by 1.3 percent from July to August. During the same period prices increased on both the domestic market as well as the import market by 0.4 percent.

This comes from official data released by Swedish statistic office, Statistic Sweden in a press release, which also adds that in total producer prices decreased 0.5 percent.

Statistic Sweden breaks down the variation and explains that prices for paper and paper products decreased on the domestic as well as the export market. Prices for basic metals decreased on the domestic, export and import markets while prices for refined petroleum products and electricity increased on these markets. On the export market price changes in several product groups contributed to the downturn.

The reason for the downturn was being attributed to an appreciation of the Swedish krona.
Prices for domestic supply, that is, domestic and import markets together, increased 0.4 percent on average from July to August.

Compared to August of last year producer prices have decreased on the domestic, export, and import markets. Prices have decreased by 3.2 percent on the export market and 2.7 percent on the import market. Prices on the domestic market have decreased 0.5 percent and prices for domestic supply have decreased 1.6 percent. In total producer prices have decreased by 1.9 percent, Statistics Sweden writes.
