Thursday, 27 September 2012
There is a looming conflict at the Swedish ports following disagreement between the employers and the ports worker's union, Transport, they failed to agree on a contract. The consequences may eventually become serious.

Radio Sweden report that notice has been given which suggest looming conflict in Swedish ports now broken out and even Peter Jeppsson, President of the Swedish ports thinks this will get serious and  will strike hard at all ports.
Transport has previously given notice of a blockade against overtime and additional workload and also to the recruitment and hiring of staff. This notice now come into force in ports around the country.

"Because of the flow of goods we now have in the ports a sizeable part of the work is conducted by overtime. This is now being block and it affects not only Gothenburg and Stockholm. It will have a major impact, since 95 percent of all imports and exports pass through the port," says Jeppsson.

The conflict strikes directly against the roll on-roll-off traffic at Älvsborg terminal in Gothenburg, where the cargo such as vehicles rolled on board are handled.

Transport has given notice that there should be a stoppage of overtime and additional work, and there should be increased recruitment and hiring of staff.
