Women Night shifts worker will find it hard to get pregnant, a new research show

Wednesday, 10 July 2013
Women who work night shifts may have more difficulty getting pregnant than others, a major new study shows a link between shift work and reduced fertility, according to a British study. In Sweden, just over one in four women have a job that means they work shifts of varying hours. See reports details in Daily mail

The Swedish researcher Christina Bergh, professor of gynecology and obstetrics at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, think the study is interesting.

"It shows something new, that is not so well known. Shift work can probably be added as another lifestyle factor that can affect fertility," she said to swedish daily, Dagens Nyheter.

Christina Bergh think shift work for many can lead to a more unhealthy lifestyle with irregular eating habits, smoking, higher body weight and lack of exercise.

"And we know that smoking and high BMI are important factors that impair fertility. There may be these which many be the cause, not the shift work itself," she says. Detaisl of the research is found in Daily Mail
