Swedish research show that it is easier to predict pregnancy problems

In the future it may be easier to predict complications during
pregnancy. This is a result from researchers in Linköping University
who found a way to predict pre-eclampsia and other problems during
What the scientists have done is to identify molecules that are
important for normal pregnancy and that means it is easier to predict
the complications that can harm the foetus.
“You can simply do blood tests to see if these compounds are in the
wrong levels,” says Jan Ernerudh, professor of clinical immunology at
the University of Linköping.
As an example of the complications can be predicted, he mentions recurrent miscarriages, preeclampsia and preterm delivery.
I want to emphasize that there are many known causes for these
problems. But there is also a large group of problems we do not know
what the causes are. Then one can imagine that with this knowledge to
predict whether there will be such a pregnancy could be of great help,
according to the researchers.
