New findings may provide clued on how to tackle Parkinsons illness

Wednesday, 27 June 2012
Researchers at Lund University, Sweden claim to have come a step closer to a move to modifying the drug that could tackle the Parkinson's disease.

In a report, according to Swedish media sources, they show how the disease spreads through the brain of an infection-like process in which mis-folded proteins travel from sick to healthy cell, the discovery described as a breakthrough.

In a press release, according to Swedish media report, the team writes that their findings do not reveal the root of Parkinson's, but that it opens the door to new drugs that can reduce or slow the effects of the disease.
