A growing number of Danes are getting skin problem akin to cancer or melanoma

The Danish government in the past years has carried out massive campaigns to inform people about care for their bodies in relations skin inconsistencies. Despite that, a record number of Danes are reporting growing number of melanoma and even more other forms of skin cancer.

According to Danish media reports, latest data says that about 2,000 Danes each year are diagnosed with melanoma. The most common sign of melanoma is the appearance of a new mole or a change in an existing mole. This can happen anywhere on the body, but most often, the back, legs, arms, and face are affected.

Aalborg University alone sees an average of 4-5 cases of melanoma each week.
"We have about 200 in this department each year who are diagnosed with melanoma. In addition, twice as many people who on their skin cancerous spots are spotted. And that's too many," says nurse Henriette Nielsen, who works at Plastic Surgery at the University Hospital of North Jutland to Danish radio and television Denmark Radio.

She also adds that this affects both young and old. As for the elderly, due to lack of proper knowledge their are also suffering for such illnesses. As for the younger people despite the heavy campaigns they did not have the proper respect to the sun. The risk increases with the number of scalds and burns.

The number of cancer patients has been steadily increasing over the last several years.

According to the British National Health Service, the NHS, Melanoma is a rare and serious type of cancer that begins in the skin and can spread to other organs in the body.
