Loreen’s victory in Eurovision song contest is a good thing for Sweden but worrying for Swedish television

The euphoria and wild celebrations in Sweden after the Swedish act,  Loreen, won the Eurovision contest is gradually calming as the population  cheering for Loreens victory cool, Swedish Television has started thinking about the cost of hosting the next show next year.

Some analysts are already calculating that for Sweden to successfully host the show next year, it is likely to be a loss making business for Swedish television.

"One guess is that the state television will go into a minus during the arrangement, but this shall not affect the regular program budget, "said Annie Wegelius, program director at Swedish television.
Preparations for next year's Eurovision finals kicks off immediately, and on Monday Swedish television was planning a first meeting.
Since Sweden last arranged the Eurovision Song Contest, the contest and its occasion have grown. The number of participating countries has increased from 24 to 42 simultaneously as television broadcasts have been expanded from one to three days.

"It is like staging the World Cup in terms of TV production.” For Swedish television’s line, it is certainly very happy and proud moment but at the same time, “there is certainly a concern that it will pull away from the expenditure side, "says Svante Stockselius, who for eight years was the president of Eurovision Song Contest organisation.

The 2013 finals will be held in May. The choice between Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo, according to Swedish television is fully open. Globe is listed for IIHF World Championship, but the new National Arena in Solna is said to be an option.

Organisers should also consider things like public transport, accommodations, disruptions to other normal way of life and the ability to manage and police disturbances. Sweden is currently in a good economic position
