Sweden's industrial production continues to remain depressed
Monday, 15 July 2013
Swedish industrial production decreased by 2.6 percent in May compared
to April in seasonally adjusted figures. Compared with May 2012,
industrial production decreased by 7.3 in calendar adjusted figures.
Latest data from Statistic Sweden (SCB) reports and continues that the
decrease in April was followed by an even larger decrease in May. The
development remained mixed within the industry sub-sectors, although
most showed decreases. The weakest development was seen in the chemical
industry and pharmaceutical industry aggregate while the electrical
equipment industry showed the strongest development. In addition, the
industry for basic metals reported a significant decrease in May.
Similar to the monthly development, the three-month comparison was
negative and decreased by 1.3 percent for the period March-May 2013,
compared with December 2012-February 2013.
The weak development on annual basis continued in May, with a decrease
of 7.3 percent. The result was a consequence from the fact that only
two sub-sectors had positive development while several sub-sectors
showed significant decreases, said SCB.
