Another fall in New business start-up in Sweden
Tuesday, 03 July 2012
Compared with the record year 2011, the number of new business start-up in Sweden now fell to 2010 levels according to reports.
During the first half of 2012, 33 588 companies were registered
compared to 39 266 during the same period in 2011, a reduction by 5678
companies or -14.5 percent for the four most common forms of
enterprise, limited companies, sole traders, partnerships and limited
partnerships.
In June there were 4863 newly registered businesses compared with 5201
in June 2011, a decrease of 338 pieces or -6.5 percent. All forms of
companies decreased in June. Limited liability companies, which are the
most common form of enterprise created, is fell -4.3 percent.
“This year we have a downward trend in the number of newly registered
companies. This is not a reasonable performance give what the effects
of past rule changes has slowed and, in addition, we compare with the
record from 2011,” says Ulf Karnell, Communications officer at the
Swedish Companies Registration Office in a statement.
Limited company companies are by far the most common form of enterprise
registered. Rule change by abolishing mandatory auditing has meant that
75 percent of the newly established limited liability companies have
opted out of the auditor.
“We would like to remind all companies that they must submit a complete
annual report to the Companies Registration Office,” said Ulf Karnell.
Despite that, starting a company is Sweden is still a very heavy burden
and despite the government reducing the required start-up capital to
Skr50000 from Skr10,000 on the whole to do any form of business in
Sweden as a small business person required far more cash injection more
than in the UK or USA. For this reason franchises and large
multinationals see Sweden as their real play ground.
