Volvocar Car Corp., accused of manipulating sales figures in the swedish car market

Monday, 03 September 2012
Volkswagen sold far more cars in the Swedish auto market than Volvo in August.
But Volvo dealers are reported to have manipulated the figures so that the situation will look slightly better than it really is.

The Swedish business daily report that Volkswagen registered more than 1,000 cars more than Volvo in August, according to data from research firm Vroom.

Volkswagen accounted for 3888 new car registrations, followed by Volvo, 2872, Audi, 1545 and with  Toyota 1307 while Kia registered 1,306 new cars.

But according to the paper, Volvo's numbers by the end of the month was seen better when traders "put on as many cars they can", meaning that unregistered cars were registered. That's according to Vroom which stress that only 60 percent of Volvo cars registered in August had reached the end customer, compared with 80 percent of Volkswagen.

They imply that the actual sales figures was actually even worse than the reported figures.
It is also reported that the moves is a method that is widely used in the industry, but the question remains as for who's interest.

Sweden is one of the leading market for the Volvocar brand and it looks like the company official would love that it stays that way.
