Volvo draws down production
Friday, 16 November 2012Volvo Group delivered 20,254 vehicles in October, according to new figures from the company. That represents an eight percent fewer than the same month last year. So far this year, there has been a decline of three percent.
In October supplies fell most in North America by -18 percent, followed by Asia down 16 percent. European deliveries fell only marginally.
As a result of the weaker demand, Volvo is to reduce production in Europe during the remainder of 2012 through fewer shifts and stop days, the company said in a statement.
Truck deliveries of the Volvo brand fell by ten per cent in October.
"The downturn in the economy and the uncertainty surrounding the future of the business climate in Europe has a significant negative impact on demand for trucks, "the company said.
