VOLVO cars corp., cuts production as demand sinks
Friday, 30 November 2012Volvo Cars Corporation says it is to cut production of passenger cars in December by 5500 cars due to weak market demand.
Company press officer, Per-Ake Froberg, speaking on Radio Sweden channel, P4 in Gothenburg made the revelation and stressed that production decrease was as a result of reduced orders.
The reduction will also see production stopped completely for three additional days in Torslanda, Gothenburg in connection with the Christmas and New Year holidays. In the factory in Ghent, Belgium, there will be two production-free days.
Next year, will also see production rates grounded to a halt in the 4th week in Torslanda where 50 cars per hour will be reduced to 45 cars per hour.
