Troubled SAS continues to see red in the summer
Monday, 20 August 2012
The summer has not been very friendly to the Scandinavia Airline
System, aka, SAS especially its long-haul routes which have seen
various forms of setbacks stretching into the core of the company.
According to various Danish and Swedish news sources, there is a
gradual emerge of a picture of a nightmarish summer that has cost
a lot of money and not least, a large number of unhappy customers who
have had their travel plans spoiled of cancelled and also a drove of
delayed flights, according to the reports.
The problems are reported to have been as a result of SAS's high
utilization of all its eleven long-haul aircraft in operation as well
as external causes such as weather problems in Chicago, USA.
The problem continues also, that in the past weekend, there was an
engine change on an Airbus 330 aircraft to a New York flight such that
the return flight was cancelled. The resulting effect was that a
round-trip from Copenhagen to Beijing also failed to materialize, and a
Sunday flight from Copenhagen to Bangkok was delayed until Monday.
