A Slight increase in Swedish industrial production amidst economic gloom in the background

Swedish Industrial production increased by 0.4 percent in seasonally
adjusted figures in March compared to February as the EU and global
economy continues wobble between economic growth and fall.
Comparing March with the same month in 2011, industrial production
decreased by 6.5 percent in working day adjusted figures, official
figure from statistic Sweden show.
The development
in production varied among the industry sub-sectors in March compared
to February. The development was negative in for example the petroleum
industry and other manufacturing industry. The industry for
non-metallic mineral products and the textile industry showed a
positive development.
Industrial production was negative when comparing the first quarter of
2012 with the fourth quarter of 2011. Production within industry
declined by 1.1 percent.
Industrial production decreased by 6.5 percent in March 2012 compared
with the same month in 2011. The majority of the industry sub-sectors
showed a negative development. The decline was large within the motor
vehicle industry and other manufacturing industry. The industry for
non-metallic mineral products had a positive development.
The figures for March are preliminary. Since the previous publication
the development in industrial production in February has been revised
upwards by 0.1 percentage points to a decrease of 5.1 percent compared
to January. The change in production in February compared to the same
month in 2011 has not been revised and still amounts to a decrease of
7.1 percent.
