SKF plans to expand recruitment growth in Asia

SKF plans to annually employ about 1,000 people in Asia over the coming
years, the company’s CEO Tom Johnstone said on its Capital market day
yesterday, Tuesday.
Currently, SKF has approximately 10,000 employees in Asia, which accounts for about 26 percent of company sales.
During his presentation, Johnstone repeated on the about three
weeks old forecast that demand is expected to increase slightly in the
second quarter, both relative to the first quarter last year and to the
corresponding period last year.
He emphasized the importance of activity in China and India to actually
increases according to the forecast of higher demand in Asia, relative
to the first quarter, to be realized.
SKF's sales in China, which accounts for almost half of its revenue in
Asia, fell during the first quarter. Johnstone said he expected "good
growth" in China in the long term, and has previously expressed the
hope that SKF will get back to growth in China during the year.
