SAS cabin worker's union submit their own side of the bargain to SAS management

Friday, 16 November 2012
As negotiations between SAS management and the unions started in earnest in Copenhagen on Friday, the cabin union have submitted their own proposal as a route to an agreeable solution.

At lunchtime on Friday, the cabin Union handed over their own joint proposal to save the company. "The changes we made over aims at savings and efficiencies, "said Union negotiator Niklas Hjert to Swedish business daily Dagens Industri.

The proposal was submitted jointly by the Union and the two cabin unions in Norway and Denmark. Niklas Hjert would not go into the content of the proposal, but notes that the negotiations are now underway.

"It was a tentative start yesterday but now the negotiations are under way. It feels like there is a concern on both sides of the table to reach a solution, "he told the paper.

There is still no information if the cabin union's proposals was received by SAS management which has previously taken an uncompromising line against unions.

According to SAS management, the parties must agree on a deal latest Sunday, else the company will go bankrupt. Union and worker know that SAS is their source of life at this time of hard economic situation. So they are working hard to see that they get the company working again but insist that they will not accept lower pay.
