Nokia boss acknowledge mistakes stressing critics’ view that the company had no strategy despite its size.
Friday, 29 June 2012
Nokia's
CEO Stephen Elop admitted on Thursday that the company failed to
anticipate the rapidly changing mobile industry and that it is one of
the reasons behind its decline.
“There were moments during the
last one and a half years when we could have done things differently
had we known that the industry would change so fast,” says Elop told
the Finnish newspaper Aamulehti.
He joined pas calls from
critics who had stressed that Nokia though big was not the market
leaders when it comes to product and market evolution. Nokia lacked the
real strategic insight and became contented given its size. It failed
to use its power to lead the industry, just as google is doing today.
