Netflix coming to Scandinavia - Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland

The American leading internet subscription service for movies and TV programs otherwise known as Netflix is launching in the Scandinavia soon - Sweden and Denmark have been  noted as the next route for the company.

The company will bring a range of streaming media, such as movies and TV shows on devices such as the computer or e-reader, among others something that has been growing fast in recent years. Already two services Voddler and Headweb are already providing similar services in Sweden and now, one of the industry giants, American Netflix, is entering the market Scandinavian market. This will likely mean good news for consumers as it could means cheaper and better services.

In a press release, the  company, Netflix point that before the end of the year they  will start offering streaming of movies and TV shows to viewers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

Netflix, which calls itself the world's largest subscription service for online film, has offered the same service in the U.S. since 2007.

The question of the range of films it will offer viewers remains to be answered and it is not yet clear what a subscription will cost. In the UK the cost of a subscription of ₤6 per month.

Netflix's entry into the market means that access to legally streamed materials is growing for the Swedish internet users. The Swedish company,  Voddler welcomes Netflix launch.

"Our biggest competitors are not other film services providers but pirates. The more legal options there are, the easier it becomes for people to do the right thing, says Anders Seaman, Head of Communications at Voddler to Swedish television.

Netflix's entry on the Swedish market also means that the Swedish television's streaming service,  Play will be challenged.

Göran Danasten, who is responsible for the purchase of drama programs on Swedish  TV says that at present there is little chance  for film and TV companies to choose to sell their works to Netflix instead of providing it to a free-TV company such as Swedish television,  because Netflix goals at the moment is not to be the first to offer a particular TV show but to offer a wide selections of older material.

Netflix is listed on the Nasdaq exchange and has over  27 million users in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Great Britain and Ireland.
