Tuesday, 24 July 2012
The Finnish car factory Valmet Automotive in Uusikaupunki, the western coastal town will begin to manufacture Mercedes-Benz cars.

Finnish broadcaster Yle report that  Valmet Automotive is to commence the manufacture of A-Class Mercedes Benz cars and the Finnish Government ministers have expressed satisfaction at the deal between Daimler and Valmet Automotive.

The plant will produce up to 100 000 cars of the Mercedes' new A-Class for the period 2013 - 2016.

The new model will be coming to market this fall. The A-class Mercedes Benz cars are of a progressive two-box design with a sleek and sporty exterior quite unlike the traditional look of earlier models.

Valmet Automotive says that the company could employ 400 workers who had been given notices of laid off next year.

Agreement between Valmet and Daimler AG, which owns the brand Mercedes-Benz, will be perfected in the fall.
