Ikea's brand worth Skr75 billion a new assessment show but that is change money compared to Apple
Thursday, 09 August 2012
Despite the sale of Ikea's subsidiary, the Ikea brand is
still worth Skr 75 billion, which is loose change compared to Apple.
Ikea recently sold its brand name for Skr75 billion to a subsidiary.
But that's just loose change compared to Apple - the world's most
valuable brand.
"If you buy Ikea brand you buy at the same moment all the customer
relationships and goodwill that the company has worked up. That is what
you pay for - not the logo," says Bengt Håkansson, brand strategist at
Brand Clinic.
But the Ingvar Kamprad's empire is not even the most highly valued
Swedish brand. The most valued Swedish company or brand is H
& M, which this year is valued at approximately Skr125 billion,
according to brand research company Millward Brown.
But even the clothing giant has no chance against Apple which for the
second consecutive year is ranked the highest. Now the brand is worth
the staggering Skr1222 billion. This is followed by IBM and Google.
McDonald remains in the fourth place, followed by Microsoft and Coca
Cola. The brand Marlboro advanced a notch to seventh place, now valued
at close to Skr492 billion.
