Horsemeat in IKEA's - Swedish meatballs thus Sweden also tied to horse means scandal and conspiracy

Monday, 25 February 2013
Horse meat has been found in Ikeak Swedish meat balls, one of the Ikea flagship food items sold in its global supermarket places.

Reuters news agency reports that Czech inspectors have found horsemeat in meatballs made in Sweden for IKEA Group, the world's biggest furniture retailer, the Czech news agency CTK reported on Monday.

The State Veterinary Institute reported its findings to the EU's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed, CTK said.

Ikea meatballs for sales in most of the department stores in Europe are manufactured by Dafgård in Sweden. Thus if the reports are true, it is the first time horsemeat is found in products manufactured in Sweden and thus Swedish producers would be easily tied to a horsemeat product that is not labelled. This might also mean that horses used are not know so it would not be determined if they (the horses) carry deadly volumes of dangerous drugs such as Bute.

The Dafgård factory, which manufactures meatballs to most Ikea stores in Europe, located in Källby outside Lidköping.

As the meat scandal which erupted in the many EU country have been raging on, no one thought that Sweden could come along as one of the places where horse would be slaughtered secretly for human consumption.

On Monday, the meat scandal was discussed in the EU agriculture and fisheries ministers meeting in Brussels. They identified that even retailers need to take their responsibility to check what is in their various meat products, stressed Swedish Rural Affairs minister, Eskil Erlandsson when he arrived at the meeting.
