Heavy fall in Swedish business start-ups

Monday, 03 December 2012
Business start up in Sweden fell by 17.5 percent in November compared with the same month last year, according to figures from the Swedish Companies Registration Office, Bolagsverket.

Signalling the intensity of weak economic indicators and the various micro economic out look, Sweden has now joined the trajectory of economic gloom as seen in the rest of Europe.

In the past month and in the early years of the economic depression, Sweden was called the economic tiger of Europe as it weathered the crisis that was consuming some parts of the core European market.

Now Sweden which relies on the greater EU for trade and survival is facing a backlash from the weaknesses in the EU. The effect is weak economic activities back home.

Evidence of this is that in November 2012, 5,191 new companies were registered in Sweden, against the previous year's 6294 new business. Not too bad though

"All types of companies saw decreases, limited liability companies fell by 13.1 percent and the sole trading decreases with the 23.3 percent in November," writes Ulf Karnell, Communications at Bolagsverket in a comment.
