Fall in Swedish corporate bankruptcies and signs of economic improvement start being felt
Tuesday, 06 August 2013
The number of corporate bankruptcies in Sweden have been reported to
have dipped because they reached a total of 456 in July, a decrease of
3 percent compared with the same month in 2012.
This comes from new figures released by business and credit information company UC, according to a press release.
For the period January to July, the number of corporate
bankruptcies were 4,267 items, 10 percent more than in the
corresponding period of 2012.
What this tell is that all these bankruptcies amounted to 531 in July,
a decrease of 4 percent compared with the same month last year.
UC notes that the fall in bankruptcy in July was not entirely unexpected.
"There has been several reports in the spring and summer, which
signalled an improvement in the economy. Weak consumer spending and
companies' low propensity to invest has resulted in lower demand for
goods and services, which have seen a tough times for many companies,
that is why we continued to expect relatively large bankruptcies ",
says UC's marketing manager Roland Sigbladh in a comment.
He adds that many companies in the manufacturing industry sector are
experiencing great uncertainty where the economy is headed and it
affects their willingness to invest.
