Evacuation from a Norwegian North seas oil platform
Friday, 31 May 2013
63 people were evacuated from the platform, Island Innovator in Askøy
outside Bergen on Friday after it started moving uncontrollably.
The platform, which lay at the dock on Hanøytangen, began to veer
towards land after taking on water. 37 people stayed on board and
worked to stabilize the platform.
"When a platform with many people on board wobbles, it seriously, "said
Acting County Police Per Algrøy to the paper, Verdens Gang.
After the evacuation, the company Odfjell Drilling announced to have
successfully stabilized the platform but readiness remains high.
