Czech Republic not satisfied with Swedish gripen business - calls for renegotiation of terms and price
Wednesday, 25 July 2012
Sweden's negotiations with the Czech Republic on the lease of 14
Swedish-made Gripen fighters have come to a grinding halt - Swedish
media say it has temporarily stalled.
On Wednesday the Czech Government, rejected the Swedish bid on the
grounds that it was too expensive and gave Sweden a deadline at the end
of November to come up with a new bid, reports the Czech news agency
CTK according to Swedish media reports.
The Czech Prime Minister, Petr Necas said there might be talk of a new contract unless the price is lowered.
"So far, negotiations have not been satisfactory so I can not recommend
that we accept the latest Swedish bid, "said Necas to the newspaper
pravo, according to Swedish media reports.
At the same time the Czech Republic say they are not closing their
doors without any notice that negotiations continue. When the ten-year
lease of the 14 plane expires in 2014, the deal would have cost the
Czech Republic nearly Skr20 billion, or Skr 2 billion a year.
