Tuesday, 11 December 2012
Swedish military hardware maker, Saab has been hoping that at least Brazil will consider its Jas Gripen New Generation as its preferred fighter jet. But it turns out that the big boys of Boeing have emerged the front Runner pushing Saab to the rear.

In the procurement of 36 new fighter aircrafts to the Brazilian Air Force, Boeing with its model Boeing F-18 Super Hornet has emerged as a front-runner, while Saab's Gripen Next Generation and the French Dassault Rafale are rejected by the Brazilian Air Force experts.

This comes from Swedish media report, particularly from the Swedish business daily Dagens Industry, referring to the Brazilian news paper, Istoé.
According to a report by the Air Force's analysis group in which Istoé is aware of, the Saab Gripen NG is the cheapest, but has the disadvantage that it is in development and has never been tested in a combat environment or war.

According to government sources, Brazilian President, Dilma Rousseff is expected to make a decision on the purchase at the beginning of next year.
