Monday, 08 April 2013
At least 70 Swedes are among those exposed in the leaked material brought to light recently in relations to secret bank accounts in tax havens.

The Swedish business magazine, Focus which was part of the whistle blowing organisations working on digging out the "truth" about top business persons with bank accounts in tax havens has now reported that  at least 70 Swedish entrepreneurs or persons have been found to possess accounts in tax havens.

If this is true, then it will mean that these persons resisted the Swedish government's offer that people could repatriate their wealth back to Sweden from tax havens for no penalty. Many people had reacted to this and brought back their hidden loot to the country. These 70 greedy ones resisted and  refused working along the government line.

Last week, several international media organisations began publishing information on wealthy persons alleged to have stashed away money in tax havens. AS such a series of high-profile people have been revealed as suspected tax evaders. Among them, Jean-Jacques Augier, campaign treasurer for French President François Hollande, who according to the audit  part owner of two offshore companies.

Two daughters of Azerbaijan's President, Ilham Aliyev also featured in the material. There are also a number of Indonesian billionaires within the circles of the country's former dictator Suharto. Maria Imelda Marcos Manotoc, daughter of the former Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos, has access to a fund in the British Virgin Islands.

According to Focus Magazine's analysis, there are at least 74 people with addresses in Sweden that are linked to companies or other legal entities in the tax havens - Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands and the Cook Islands.

The magazine reveals no names. But say a little more information about the 20 Swedes in the material. In brief the following information was gathered
• The majority seem to be smaller or mid-sized business owners of varying types.
• There were about twenty are men, although it looks like some of the companies were represented by a woman.
• The oldest was born in 1937, the youngest 1978
