Accenture chases away Nokia workers

Thursday, 10 May 2012
Some 320 former Nokia employees have claimed severance packages at the consultancy firm Accenture, which is now moving forward with layoff talks.

Around 250 Symbian jobs are on the chopping block. The US-based firm meanwhile says 500 former Nokia employees have found new positions within the company.

Last year, Nokia transferred 1,200 of its Symbian developers to Accenture, where they continued to work on Symbian software. The move followed Nokia's decision to phase out Symbian after striking a partnership with Microsoft, making Windows Phone its main smartphone platform.
