A new accident in textile factory that produces clothes for H & M

Monday, 20 May 2013
H & M factory collapses in Cambodia signalling the growing problems embedded in factories in  Asia.

23 workers were injured today in the capital, Phnom Penh when a building gave way at a factory that produces clothes for H & M, various media sources in Sweden reports.

The incident is the latest in a series of incidents that raises questions about security in the textile industries in that part of the world.

"This latest incident makes us worry about the textile workers' safety," says union representative Ath Thun to media organisation AFP.

Just four days ago, another factory in the garment industry collapsed in the same country. Then it was the roof of the building where the Asics athletic shoes are manufactured which fell. Two people died and seven were injured in that accident.
